From the fried turkey to the Dallas Cowboys, our team has some great Thanksgiving traditions

Faith. Family. Freight.

At PDQ America, these are just a few of the things we’re grateful for this Thanksgiving. Our team is looking forward to spending time with family, indulging in way too much delicious food, and making lots of lasting memories. We know that every family has their own unique Thanksgiving traditions, so here’s a look at what several of our team members will be doing to kick off the holiday season.

Michael Clements, Jr., president of PDQ America

Something unique about Michael’s family’s Thanksgiving gatherings is that for years, they forgot an important component of the feast... “We would have all this food and no one would bring drinks. Imagine a room full of food with enough sweet tea for 5 glasses and one 2 liter for like 60 people. It was silly, but it’s not an issue anymore because someone is assigned the drink duties.”

Who do you spend Thanksgiving with? Family, friends, friends of family members, family members of friends... we have a really big thanksgiving with anybody who wants to come. We like to say that if you go hungry, it’s your own fault.

What are you thankful for this year? I am thankful this year for love, support and encouragement from family, friends, and the community. I am always thankful for my savior Jesus Christ and my faith for what the future holds.

What is some of your favorite Thanksgiving food? Fried Turkey, Mac n cheese, and deviled eggs.

What are some of your favorite Thanksgiving traditions? Seeing family, and watching football. My cousin’s fried turkey is the best. I do all of my Black Friday shopping mobile and most of it starts on Thanksgiving Day.

Robin’s family goes beyond simply watching football on Thanksgiving. Her family gathering comes with a dress code. “Every year my family and I wear Dallas Cowboys attire because my 94 year-old grandma is the BIGGEST Cowboys fan you will meet.

Who do you spend Thanksgiving with? My family. Typically it is also my family from California and Arizona.

While Chase typically spends Thanksgiving with family in east Texas, it’s not out of the ordinary to find him and his family at their deer lease in west Texas.

Kristy and her boyfriend both come from large families, but they’ve got the holiday house hopping figured out. “Instead of holidays being one sided, we switch on whose family's Thanksgiving gets the priority and plan where we end up that way,” she says.

What are you thankful for this year? There's a lot that I'm thankful for. Family, grace, mercy, friends, the ability to work and be creative, and so much more.

What is some of your favorite Thanksgiving food? My Mimi's turkey gravy and her rolls. I could drink her turkey gravy.

What are some of your favorite Thanksgiving traditions? Besides gathering to eat with family, there's not much of a tradition unless you count hoarding rolls from my sisters and cousins.

Katelyn Clements, internal operations

When it comes to Black Friday shopping, once was enough for Katelyn. “I once stayed up all night to stand in line at Toys R Us. We were 10th in line and about 10 minutes before the store opened they started handing out vouchers for the toy we were waiting for. There were only 9 vouchers, so we were out of luck. I’ve never been Black Friday shopping again.”

Who do you spend Thanksgiving with? My whole family. All 60 + of them, plus a few friends sprinkled in. It’s wonderful to have a family that is happy to welcome any and everyone to a family gathering. It’s one of my favorite things about our Thanksgiving celebration.

Pumpkin pie or sweet potato pie? I like them both equally!

What are you thankful for this year?I am thankful for a family that loves spending time together and family memebers that are wonderful cooks! I am also thankful for PDQ. It’s always a highlight of my day to hear Michael brag about each and every member of the team and the great things you’re all making happen!

What are you thankful for this year? God says to be thankful in everything, so what’s not to be thankful for? I have THE best wife in the history of the world! I have a great bunch of kids and grandkids. My little mother is still kickin’! As close to being used up as I am, I’m still able to work and I work with some great and honorable folks!

What are some of your favorite Thanksgiving traditions? Getting together with as many of the family as possible then sitting around after we eat and talk until I fall asleep sitting on the couch.
