It’s almost that time of the year again, when our hard-working staff takes a break from the hustle and bustle of the trucking industry to spend time with family and recoup for the start of a new year.
At PDQ America in White Oak, TX, we’ve celebrated the holiday season with a company Christmas party and rounded up gifts for local Angel Tree kids. But that’s not all!
At PDQ America, we’ve taken some time to reflect on our favorite Christmas traditions and what this holiday season really means to each of us.
“I enjoy coming together as a family and spending time with each of my family members,” said operations assistant Robin Thomas. “I love being able to give them at least one gift I know they will love.”
Operations assistant Kristy Whitehurst loves witnessing the happiness Christmas brings to her nieces and nephews.
“Seeing the joy on my nieces’ and nephews’ faces over seeing everyone and getting gifts that they've wanted really makes it special. At Christmas, it's all of the kids that are excited and happy over every little thing.”
One of the most memorable gifts PDQ America president Michael Clements, Jr. has ever received was an autographed Ken Griffey, Jr. jersey, but gifts are just a small part of what makes Christmas special for him.
“I love spending time with family, the feeling of the year coming to a close, and celebrating the birth of our savior Jesus Christ,” he said.
When it comes to Christmas traditions, ornaments hold a much more sentimental value to Robin.
“Before my mom passed we had certain family ornaments we put on the tree each year,” she said. “My sister has continued those traditions with our customized ornaments from when we were young as well as my mom’s traditional ornaments.”
